We heard this from a literacy practitioner:
This idea just came up in a national literacy meeting I was in. CLN, a literacy support org in Alberta, now runs simple monthly "Community Cafes" for literacy practitioners. Just a simple online meeting, no agenda, where practitioners can chat, vent, brainstorm, etc.
I just thought I'd tell you because if there was one organized in Ontario, I'd definitely attend it.
We decided to give it a try.
About the Pilot: Real talk as Community Gabfest pilot continues
Each gabfest will have a spotlight, such as
A spotlight on research: discussion of an article, podcast or video about research into blended learning approaches and techniques
A spotlight on innovation: a community member shares a promising blended learning practice they have been exploring
A spotlight on challenges: a community member shares a blended learning question, concern or challenge they and the community works together to find a solution
A spotlight on professional reflection: community members participate in reflective practice activities to explore the goals, principles and philosophies that guide their blended learning curriculum design.
And then we'll take it from there.
